Appeal AC08 of EPC zoning map amendment at 1050 18th Street NW
Sawmill Community Land Trust appealed the EPC approval of a zoning map amendment from NR-BP to MX-H for all or a portion of Tract B1, approximately 4.1 acres at 1050 18th Street NW (Belmont and 18th). The amendment would allow redevelopment of existing warehouse and office buildings into multi-family housing by Tighten Development, with agent Consensus Planning. SCLT argued MX-H is too tall and intense, would prefer MX-M, and claimed a spot zone and traffic impacts. LUHO recommended denying the appeal. Council accepted the LUHO recommendations and findings, denying the appeal and upholding the zone change, 8-1 with President Pena voting no. Councilor Lewis later noted the project was delayed 137 days by the appeal process.
