Discussion of future update to Kona CDP
The committee discussed with Director Darrow the future approach and potential timeline for updating the 2008 Kona CDP (as amended September 2019), in relation to the AC's October 30, 2025 letter requesting funding for gray infrastructure studies (transportation, water, sewer). Darrow indicated budget constraints (loss of six positions due to federal funding cuts), that South Hilo is the current update priority, and North Kona would likely be next in line. Affordable housing and water were identified as areas the 2008 plan did not address well. No vote taken.
