Data center schedule of uses ordinance – approval to advertise deferred; moratorium extension to be prepared

Ordinance amending Sections 3.0102, 3.0103 and 3.0104 and creating Section 3.1400 (data centers). It would make data centers conditional uses in the C3, LM, HM and MP districts, require a mandatory pre-submittal, and require electrical, water, noise/EMF and decommissioning analyses. The Planning and Zoning Board recommended allowing data centers only by conditional use permit in the MP district. Large data center is defined as 50 MW or more. The motion moved approval to advertise to the 10/27 meeting with Commissioner Parks' amendments, and directed staff to prepare a 90-day extension of the application suspension, which expires December 13. The extension would go to the P&Z Board November 4, with hearings November 17 and December 1. Passed 3-2. The chair and Commissioner Sabatini opposed; Sabatini wanted a 6-month moratorium.

  • advertise at 10/27 meeting with Parks amendments
  • prepare 90-day moratorium extension concurrently
