Temporary moratorium on data center and telecommunications hotel applications
Ordinance imposing a temporary moratorium on rezoning, conditional use permits, and certain Category 2B and 3 development plan applications relating to telecommunications hotels and data centers, pending review and recommended changes by the Planning Commission. Chappell's loophole-closing amendment (new Section 2: moratorium on building permits for repurposing existing structures as data centers/telecom hotels) passed by voice vote. Hawkins' amendment to extend to 365 days failed 10-15 on roll call. Final vote 24 yes, 1 no. Previously passed the Planning and Zoning Committee 7-1.
