International Drive CRA extension and revenue restructuring
The board directed staff to extend the International Drive CRA, a 7,315-acre redevelopment area created in 1998, by 10 years from September 29, 2028 to September 29, 2038. Revenue collection would change from the $22M cap-and-rebate structure to a percentage basis, with staff recommending 60% to the CRA and 40% to the general fund. Planning would continue for housing, transportation, beautification and economic development, including a mixed-income catalytic housing site near SR 528, I-Drive transit lane and BRT, the Sunshine Corridor rail and the Gateway 2040 Promenade. Staff will also study adding Williamsburg to the CRA boundary. Public hearings could be held as early as December 1. The motion was made by the mayor, seconded by Commissioner Uribe, and passed unanimously.
