Appeal of permit suspension at 3829 25th Street
Appeal 26-057 (Mathur v. Planning Department) of the Planning Department's request to suspend permit 202506037833. The permit allowed vertical and horizontal additions to a single-family home in RH-2 and added an ADU, for a net gain of one unit. Demolition exceeded the approved scope: all east-wall framing on the first floor was removed, and more than 90% of the front facade was removed where 62% was approved. Appellants asked for a partial suspension so they could frame through the roof for weather protection. The board found the zoning administrator did not err or abuse his discretion and upheld the full suspension, 3-1, with Lopez voting nay. The board encouraged the parties to obtain separate permits to address safety and weather concerns. Conditional use authorization from the Planning Commission is still required.
