Public hearing on expenditure limit permanent base adjustment
First of two public hearings on referring a permanent base adjustment of the county's constitutional expenditure limit to the November general election ballot. Proposal raises the 1979-80 base of $2.3 million by $1.5 million, using the same population and inflation factors, increasing spending capacity from ~$30 million to ~$50 million (about a 60%/$20 million increase). Presented by Deputy County Manager Mauricio Chavez and consultant Brandon Nee. Requires two-thirds board approval to refer, then voter approval; effective FY28 if passed. No vote taken; second hearing scheduled July 8th.
