Sewer Overflow Control Plan status presentation
Staff (Aaron Kemper) presented the history and status of Springfield's court-enforceable consent judgment to reduce sanitary sewer overflows. The city entered the original consent judgment in 1995, developed a $50M early action plan (2012), a $200M 10-year overflow control plan (2015), and revised it to a 15-year $300M supplemental overflow control plan in 2021 running to 2035. To date over $112M spent on the supplemental plan; ~248 miles of pipe lined, ~40 historic overflow locations eliminated, average pipe age reduced from 65 to 49 years. Current average monthly wastewater bill ~$44.93. No vote taken.
