Mayor and Council moved to accelerate consideration and adoption of an ordinance regulating large quantity water users, scheduling an August 19th regular meeting vote on establishing a large water users ordinance, and to initiate the public process for amendments to the city's Unified Development Code updating zoning requirements for large-scale data centers. Amendments will include a clear definition of data center and design/development standards, informed by Phoenix, Chandler, Mesa, and Tempe, and will require applications be reviewed under zoning examiner legislative procedure with approval by mayor and council after recommendation by the zoning examiner.
