Where this stands
Existing 20-year-old regulation ice rink slated to close in 44 days and be demolished this fall, with no replacement planned. Public speakers from HTX Storm Girls Hockey and Houston Ice Sports Coalition urged the city to deny permitting requests, extend operations, and explore a public-private partnership for a new rink. A public information request indicates Metro National may be seeking a public-private partnership and possible Chapter 380 agreement or TIRZ participation for the property.
