Request to remove Box Elder County from Golden Spike Inland Port

Approved.

Commission voted to direct the county attorney's office to draft correspondence to the Utah Inland Port Authority requesting that any land Box Elder County put into the Golden Spike Inland Port project area be removed. Sean Milne of Bear River Association of Governments (BRAG) reported no new active interest in the project area (which includes Lakeshore Learning 1.2M sq ft in Garland and Nucor in Brigham City).

Ordinance 654 - Moratorium on data centers and data center power plants

Adopted Ordinance 654, a temporary land use regulation imposing a moratorium of up to 180 days on data centers and data center power plants to allow the county to develop review processes, codes, and zoning. County attorney clarified the moratorium applies only to applications filed after the vote; applications filed before proceed forward (relevant to the Stratus project). Numerous public commenters urged extending the moratorium to 12 months and opposed the Stratus data center.
