Entertainment Zone Ordinance - downtown Fresno (first reading)
Introduction (first reading) of ordinance establishing three downtown entertainment zones as a one-year pilot. Zones: Zone A is Fulton St from southern edge of Inyo to northern edge of Mono; Zone B is Fulton St between Fresno St and Mono St plus portions of Mariposa, Kern; Zone C extends Fulton from Inyo to Mono and eastern edge of H St. Allows type 47/48 licensed businesses to serve alcohol in public right-of-way during permitted special events when zone is activated. Passed 7-0 on introduction; second reading required, effective 31 days after adoption; 10-month review planned (~December).
- One-year pilot; requires special event permit, entertainment zone lead, security/insurance plan, road closure and cleanup plan, cup labeling and wristband ID; businesses may opt in or out; council retains authority to repeal.
