Proposed ordinance restructuring Mayor's Commission on Human Rights and Community Relations
Assistant City Attorney Joy Latimer presented a forthcoming ordinance to remove the commission's obligation to investigate individual discrimination complaints (a legacy of the 1990 Yellow Freight Missouri Supreme Court case), set the preferred number of commissioners at nine, and refocus the commission on community education, special projects assigned by the mayor, and policy recommendations. No vote was taken.
