2024 Building Code Update Presentation

BDS director Martin Google presented a staff recommendation to adopt an amended 2024 family of ICC building codes while retaining an amended 2018 International Energy Conservation Code, with a target implementation date of November 1 and a vesting procedure. No vote taken; bills could come for first reading at the first August council meeting. Councilmember Adebisi objected to the two-month window and inadequate stakeholder engagement (AIA, MSPE, Urban Land Institute, City Utilities) and opposed keeping the 2018 energy code.

The other decisions are listed below by title. The full write-up, verbatim conditions, and the audio at each vote are in Pro.
